Nextjet Technologies Launches Nextjet On-Demand and Nextjet Connect
Hosted Solution and Data Services Network Provides Rapid Deployment Option for Transportation Management and Visibility
DALLAS - February 21, 2003 - Nextjet Technologies, the proven provider in the web-services supply chain execution marketplace, today announced the launch of the hosted version of its Transportation Optimization and Execution Management system, Nextjet On-Demand. Users of this deep, end-to-end transportation management system now need only an Internet connection to utilize the full set of transportation order booking, routing, tendering, event management and settlement functionality. Moreover, Nextjet has also packaged its extensive messaging network, Nextjet Connect, into the hosted service, enabling users to receive real-time updates on the status of their shipment via email, web or automated voice means.
Industry leading customers have turned to Nextjet for their transportation system needs thanks to the automation and efficiency that Nextjet's solution brings to their logistics operations. Through the deployment of Nextjet On-Demand, the Company can now offer this solution to a broad pool of enterprises and logistics service providers that need to quickly realize the benefits of an implementation without mobilizing the hardware and technology infrastructure resources traditionally required in a software license purchase scenario. Customers can go live on the Nextjet On-Demand system within two months, migrating all their carrier arrangements and rate profiles while integrating with host financial, ERP and other legacy systems.
Nextjet Co-CEO Steve O'Brien notes, "The Nextjet On-Demand offering provides customers a cost-effective way to leverage the full functionality of the premiere transportation system on the market today. This solution allows any size shipper or transportation user to access our web-native transportation technology and gain operating benefits in as little as two months. Through Nextjet Connect, customers gain access to automated shipment tendering and status notifications with over 2,000 existing carriers. Nextjet Connect users can interface to this carrier network directly through Nextjet On-Demand or through their existing TMS application."
Transportation management systems represent the most active sector of the supply chain management software market today. A December 2002 Bear Stearns survey validated that transportation management system sales are outpacing those of other supply chain software sectors such as warehouse management and supply chain planning. Companies appreciate the near-term financial impact that transportation management systems can achieve through automation of manual shipping processes and route optimization. A recent AMR Research report also notes that hosted web-based delivery using transactions and subscription-based pricing will be the leading deployment model within the transportation management systems market, forecasted to grow at twenty-six percent per year to $2.7 billion by 2006.
Nextjet On-Demand covers all transportation order steps from instant quote and itinerary to street-level route optimization and consolidation, and all physical steps from pick-up to delivery across carriers and modes. Nextjet has invested substantial resources in mapping shipment assignment and tendering processes, deploying electronic dispatch systems to a wide array of carriers and independent contractors. Customers using the Nextjet On-Demand system can dispatch shipments to carriers and private fleet assets via a secure web interface, mobile WAP devices, or traditional EDI methods. Users of the system enjoy the auto-monitoring and exception management capabilities embedded in the Nextjet system, removing opportunities for manual errors while ensuring that shipments move in the most efficient manner.
Over 3.5 million messages move through the Nextjet Connect network on a daily basis. Nextjet has structured unique ties into scheduled transportation event monitoring networks, as varied as the U.S. Air Traffic Control System, air cargo airbill status systems, ground transport carriers, and even the Greyhound® bus network. Through the device-agnostic deployment model of the Nextjet dispatching system, participating carriers and independent contractors need only a cell phone or web access to accept shipments and feed updates into Nextjet Connect. Therefore, real-time event level status updates run through the Nextjet system, which then channels the shipment level update to the user and their shipping customers via email, automated phone, or web based notifications.
