Menlo Worldwide Expedite! Will Offer Customers Nextjet Technologies’ Route Optimization, Web Booking and Shipment Visibility Tools
DALLAS, Texas (Sept. 19, 2002) – Menlo Worldwide Expedite!, a subsidiary of CNF Inc. (NYSE: CNF) that offers urgent transportation services under the Menlo WorldwideSM brand, has announced it will supplement its existing technology platforms with Nextjet Technologies applications. In the current challenging economic environment, companies are increasingly choosing a supply chain services partner based on its ability to use technology to achieve greater operational efficiency and supply chain visibility. After a thorough search of available options, Menlo Expedite! will incorporate Nextjet technology into its new eXMS operating system to achieve these objectives.
David S. Quin, president and chief executive officer of Menlo Worldwide Expedite!, said, “Because Nextjet began as an expedited transportation provider itself, its technology has achieved a level of refinement and efficiency in its applications that is of real value to us. Whether designing and building our own software or partnering with software vendors, we always look for this kind of real-world expertise and applicability.”
“Industry leaders such as Menlo Worldwide Expedite! gain that leadership by being able to provide very high service levels and state of the art capabilities,” said Joseph Lane, Co-CEO of Nextjet Technologies. ”By deploying the Nextjet Technologies’ applications, Menlo Worldwide Expedite! will have an integrated, web-services platform with route optimization and shipment visibility tools that will enable it to meet its customers’ increasingly high expectations.”
The customers of Menlo Worldwide Expedite! will have access to the new features in early 2003 and the company anticipates cost savings through reduced transportation expenses and the automation of workflow that accompanies every shipment moving through its systems. In general, Nextjet Technologies predicts 10-15 percent operating expense reductions for providers of logistics services that deploy its applications.
Technology developed by Nextjet Technologies uses sophisticated routing algorithms to ensure that customers consistently meet their service level commitments while minimizing their transportation costs. The system manages all quote to delivery activities across multi-modal combinations, providing customers with web-booking, event-level shipment updates by email or phone, and high levels of reliability.
